The Joint is a weekly night at Sela Bar entirely run by (paid) student promoters, creating line-ups from their own local scene! So if you want to hear the best, newest local acts, you can drop into Sela any given Tuesday and hear & see something fresh and jazzy ! First Tuesdays are run by Theo Stewart, Leeds Conservatoire. The first 2 bands will be: The Tommy Norbury Quintet !!! Keeping the free jazz scene alive amongst the youth in Leeds ! Tommy Norbury is a fantastic free jazz drummer who plays with a range of brilliant musicians. Expect experimental sounds that push the boundaries of what the ear is used to! 🤞 The Freddie Good Quintet !!! A mix of jazz blues, ballads and swing.. Freddie is an up and coming trombonist, a brilliant improviser and creative arranger, his take on classic tunes brings an entirely new and creative sound! It's £5 on the Doors or PAYF each week for 2 acts, all the money goes directly to the artists and is split equally - the night runs from 7 to 10.30ish. Always NOTAFLOF.

As part of his November 2026 tour, the amazing Dobbö will be landing at The Vinyl Whistle, Leeds. With support on the night from Altalune. Dobbö - Instagram Jazz, fusion, funk, nu-jazz. Bassist, drummer, guitarist and producer. Altalune - Instagram Alternative singer-songwriter based near Leeds, playing with her band. Doors at 7.30, Altalune at 8, Dobbö at 9, done by 10. Raining silence, opening band of the night, are a new metalcore band from Chesterfield heavily dabbling in emotional, heavy-weight music. Their inspiration centres around Deftones, with thought provoking riffs that carry us over into the next act. ValinøR, based in West Yorkshire, are a sci-fantasy metal band who's music tells one long cohesive story, blending elements of metal core, 80s pop-prog and New York hardcore; ValinøR offer a little something for everybody.
