Not a thing. is a non-profit. We run gigs around Leeds, and this is the site we run them on: event pages, tickets, band sign-ups and all the chasing that goes with them. A small number of other local promoters use it too, and it is free.

Who we are

Not a thing. CIC is a non-profit promotion run by Dan Akers, based in Huddersfield, working mostly at venues in the Leeds area. We pay for the spaces and most of the promotion so that bands can split the door takings equally. We take no money from what we do. The aim is to give new and upcoming bands somewhere to play, across alt-jazz and soul, alt-rock and all its many variants, electronic, afrobeat, latin and whatever else.

Who it is for

Local independent promoters, and only those. This is not a marketplace and it is not open to everyone. Your gigs sit on the site next to ours, so every application is read by Dan himself.

What we expect of a night on here:

  • It is a friendly, safe and accessible place to see live music.
  • Bands know what they are getting paid before they play, and they get it.
  • The door price stays affordable.
  • You are happy to share what is on, and to put other promoters' nights in front of your crowd the way they will put yours in front of theirs.

What you get

  • Event pages carrying your own name, logo and colours, on the home page, the calendar and the venue pages alongside everyone else's.
  • Tickets sold through your own Stripe account, so the money lands with you and not with us. We add 10p an order to cover the site, and Stripe take their own fee as they would anywhere.
  • Band sign-up forms, invites you can send by email or paste as a link into Instagram, and automatic chasing for photos, bios and tech specs.
  • A planning checklist for every night, and a morning email of what needs doing, if you want one.
  • Pay a band a set fee or an equal split of the ticket money, and they are told which before they say yes.
